Travel News from Sri Lanka: In the wake of the Easter bomb blasts, the amount of foreign visitors has now increased and a large number of them are engaged in rafting, tourist guides in Kitulgala said Yatiberiya.
After the Easter Sunday attacks, foreign visitors have not arrived in Sri Lanka, but now as the country’s condition becomes normal, more and more foreigners arrive. To many other sports, they prefer to engage in rafting, said rafting facilitator Viraj Krisantha.
He said a tunnel was constructed to carry water from the Kelani River for a power plant to Yatiyantota, Yatiberiya, and it would lower the river’s water level. “Rafting is not possible when the river’s water level is small. The island has no other water sources other than the Kelani River that are appropriate for rafting. So, officials need to take measures to safeguard those who rely on rafting for their livelihoods, “he said.
