Local News from Sri Lanka: President Maithripala Sirisena says a building sector needs to prioritize sustainable development. These comments were made by the President at the inaugural ceremony of the global building exhibition’ CONSTRUCT 2019′.
The exhibition that the National Construction Association of Sri Lanka (NCASL) has organized annually since 2001 will be held at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Center on 23, 24, 25 August 2019.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the President said that everyone had forgotten the extent to which the industries of growth and construction are affected by the environmental conservation process.
President Sirisena said it was only in the last few years that the attention began to be drawn on the importance of the environment by the experts and specialists in the field. He also emphasised that environmental protection responsibility should not be neglected by anyone.
The President pointed out the significance of paying attention when building roads as well as large-scale structures to the population of the country, the development history and the size of the land region.
President Sirisena articulated the need for higher emphasis on energy efficiency, sustainable property planning and management, management of raw materials and resources, quality of construction environment, water management, green innovation and social and cultural coherence.
The President valued the building sector’s excellence and said the government is going to do what it can to fix the building field’s issues.
“Construct,” a famous exhibition of global building in South Asia, has more than 250 stalls locally and abroad. Exhibition stalls are held in multiple ways such as Building Engineering, Architecture, Architecture and Information Technology.
The President opened the exhibition and visited the site, chatting with the staff in a friendly way.
