Local News from Sri Lanka: Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has been appointed as the Sri Lankan Army’s 23rd Commander. Defense Secretary General Shantha Kottegoda, stated that President Maithripala Sirisena appointed Shavendra Silva as commander of the Sri Lankan army.
In 1984, Shavendra Silva joined the Sri Lankan Army and led the 58th Division of the Army in the fight against the LTTE, serving as Chief of Staff of the Army from January of this year.
