The government met 60% of last March’s suggestions on the Budget, Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera said yesterday about Colombo Hilton’s launch of Green Clubs.
The Minister stated that a total of 84 suggestions had been submitted, with only 16 being enacted. Samaraweera said that today’s world concentrates more on global warming, environmental conservation, wildlife protection, reforestation of forests, reduction of emissions and, in particular, polyethylene and plastic dumping.
“Today, nations do not conquer each other but focus more on environmental protection. Sri Lanka has also been aligned with this worldwide initiative for the safety of the environment and implemented for the first time a number of measures in the last budget. “Sri Lanka has been recognized worldwide as a nation that pays less attention to its environment. The government launches, with the assistance and guidance of the AGA division, the Green Club concept which would mainly be implemented across Sri Lanka and would also involve the civil society, the police, the environmentalists, the children, the elderly, and the elderly. He also pointed out the significance of future generations of fostering a green atmosphere.
A new budget suggestion is being made by launching the Green Club, which will be held from Colombo in two months ‘ time. Initially, the Ministry will allocate Rs. 450 million to this project and provide more funds as required. “We want this notion of a” green club “to be promoted by a government, and Parliament to guarantee its continuity will quickly be presented with a unique law.

Samaratunga said that he is welcoming and presenting that Sri Lanka is a Green Country a couple of centuries away, but that the environment has been endangered by numerous human acts, and that the launch of the Green clueing idea is a must-have.
