Sri Lanka–Germany Fast-Track Dialog was held lately with the aim of addressing the key problems facing German companies operating in Sri Lanka under the BOI and of facilitating fresh investment at BOI Ministry of Development and International Trade. Minister Malik Samarawickrama stated that Germany is a very significant trading partner for Sri Lanka, with trading volumes totaling EUR 1.2 billion.
Minister Malik Samarawickrama added that in 2018 a significant delegation of trade and investments had gathered in Germany, but that latest events have had a negative effect on financial relations.
Minister Samarawickrama praised the establishment of a culture of timeliness, accuracy and high standards of integrity in Germany. He added that organizations like BOI and EDB in Sri Lanka are making a major effort to promote businesses and eliminate investors and exporters ‘ bottles.
German Ambassador Jorn Rohde said financial relations should ideally look like the German highway, offering quick alternatives to all issues. Germany was delighted with all efforts to improve the company conditions in Sri Lanka and solve all the problems German small and medium-sized enterprises face. Since the Easter Sunday Events, he wanted to see tourist arrivals back to Sri Lanka.
