Why should an exporter apply for an Export Award?

The prestigious Annual Export Awards of the National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) will be held on September 20 in the Main Ballroom of the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo commencing at 5:30pm.

This event which recognizes and rewards the achievements of Sari Lankan Exporters in the international market place has achieved National significance and is a most looked forward-to event in the business calendar of Sri Lanka. Applications for participation by Exporters of Products and Services and Service Providers to Exporters will close on the 26th of July 2019. The Theme under which the event will be conducted this year will be ‘Strengthening Good Governance for Sustainability’. This Theme which encompasses Ethical Business Practices is an aspect which is increasingly recognized by Stakeholders in International Trade when entering into business partnerships. Accordingly, the Panel of Judges will lay special emphasis on activities which impinge on ‘Ethical Business Practices and Good Governance’, among criteria for the evaluation, and selection of Award Winners.

Winners of Export Awards at this prestigious event will benefit in many ways as outlined hereunder.

Since the event receives immense publicity through both print and electronic media Award Winners will be able to enjoy maximum exposure regarding their achievements.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award Winners in the respective Products and Services categories will be conferred a Special Logo in addition to the Trophies, Medals, and Certificates, which they could incorporate in all their promotional, and marketing material for a period of two years to attract the attention of prospective Buyers, and other Stakeholders to promote and expand their businesses.

The website of the Chamber www.nce.lk which has a high ranking in search engines such as Google will carry information related to the success of Award Winners, and their advertisements to draw the attention of all Overseas as well as local Stakeholders.

The quarterly ‘Sri Lanka Exporter Magazine’ of the Chamber which is distributed to all important trade points both overseas and locally, including overseas Trade Missions of Sri Lanka as well as Foreign Missions, overseas Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Trade Associations etc., will carry write-ups as well as advertorials of Award Winners highlighting their achievements, and successes as business leaders of repute.

This magazine is the only publication of standing in the field of exports currently available in Sri Lanka.

Award Winners will also generally be highlighted in all important events conducted by the Chamber both locally and overseas particularly during participation at International Trade Exhibitions, and visits of Sri Lankan Trade Delegations to foreign markets among others. Additionally, opportunities will be provided to Award Winners to distribute their promotional material in the form of brochures and leaflets etc., at these events.

In view of the high standard, and professionalism achieved by the Awards Event over the years, Exporters are encouraged, and motivated to achieve high standards in doing business, particularly related to Exports, enabling them to be worthy Award Winners of high repute, and recognition in the international market place. Thereby the Country as a whole will also able to benefit through the expansion and diversification of Sri Lankan exports which make a vital contribution to the economic development of Sri Lanka.

This event confers in addition to the General Awards which compass the different Products and Services sectors, to achievers related to all-round performance, including the topmost Award for the ‘Most Outstanding Exporter of the Year’, several Special Awards to achievers of excellence in specialized aspects of exports.

The feedback and Testimonials received by the Chamber from Past Award Winners highlight the benefits that have accrued to them due to the Awards Event. They state that the event encourages them to reach high standards in the field of Exports, and firmly establish the Sri Lankan foot print in global markets. They also state that the exposure provided to them in International Markets as Award Winners has enabled them to link-up with new buyers, and business partners to expand their businesses through Investments and Trade. They also state that ability to highlight their achievements in their promotional and marketing material has enabled them to develop their businesses over the years which ultimately benefits the Country as a whole. Additionally display of their Awards in their business premises has enabled them to attract the attention of business visitors of the Enterprise, including prospective business partners, and buyers, by facilitating negotiations with them from an advantageous position, since they are seen as worthy counterparts in view of their achievements, in the eyes of the prospective business partners. Further winning Awards has enabled Managers of Export Oriented Enterprises to encourage, and motivate their employees, since they are able to see for themselves the results of their hard work, and commitment to their respective Enterprises, with some of them being provided the opportunity to participate in the glamorous ‘Export Award Event’ of the Chamber.
