By entering the Vision M Next Concept coupe, BMW requires to upgrade its game: a fresh, electrified two-door that predicts tomorrow’s battery-powered BMW’s future.
The Vision M Next Concept, which debuted at the BMW NextGen convention in Munich, shares many of its design information with the i8. However, the recent BMW idea presents what the firm calls the future’s “D+ACES” construction blocks.
There are five main points in this initialism: design and autonomous driving, connectivity, electrification, and facilities. Dig a little deeper, and these extraordinary details distinguish this amazing coupe concept from its sibling manufacturing. The BMW Vision M Next Concept separates itself visually from the i8 (and anything) with distinctive color blocking at both ends. The vehicle’s front and rear portions, finished in a matte neon Thrilling Orange paint job, pop up against the rest of the Cast Silver metallic paintwork silk-matte concept.
The front rims are wearing a traditional two-tone silver-and-black finish, while the back sets are wearing the same spoken design, but now inserts to match the body with Thrilling Orange.
The iconic dual kidney grille is, of course, carrying over. And it takes up a substantial part of the front fascia, as with most contemporary BMWs. In this case, it also hides behind it inserts by Thrilling Orange. But the M Next Concept also marks the groundbreaking Laser Wire light technology’s debut implementation.
BMW defines the latest light technology as’ a single wafer-thin glass fiber that generates an abstract ECG trace of a pin-sharp precision fashioned heartbeat.’ Power for the M Next Concept comes from a four-cylinder gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain that generates a complete output of 600 horsepower (441 kilowatts).
All this energy provides it a blistering zero to 62 mile-per-hour (100 kilometers per hour) time of 3.0 seconds and a top velocity of 186 mph (300 kmh); an optional “BOOST+” feature provides additional oomph by pressing a button. The M Next Concept handles up to 100 kilometers (62 miles) of pure electric driving all the time.
The M Next Concept’s interior is as radically styled as its exterior suggests. Facial recognition opens the gullwing doors with simply a glance. Once inside, an augmented reality head-up display, curved glass center display, and sleek digital dashboard display information in real time.
“The BMW Vision M Next provides a glimpse into the future of sporty driving,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, senior vice president of BMW Group Design. “Where the BMW Vision iNEXT illustrated how autonomous driving is set to transform life on board our vehicles, the BMW Vision M NEXT demonstrates how state-of-the-art technology can also make the experience of driving yourself purer and more emotionally engaging.”
