Under a programme titled ‘Pothai-Mamai’ (The Book and Me), the Kegalle District Secretariat is to promote reading among children in Kegalle.
It was initiated under the guidance of Kegalle District Secretary Chandrasiri Bandara. The programme will launch a mobile library to reach remote villages in the district and promote reading among children.
This was initially launched at Sujatha Dhamma School in Rambukkana.
Furthermore, the mobile service consists of a three-wheeler and a motorcycle. They will visit schools in the estate sector and other villages where children have no access to libraries. Kegalle District Secretary Chandrasiri Bandara said Kegalle children have many shortcomings.
